Fried Okra Recipe




ingredients:

Okra
buttermilk
1 egg, beaten
1 C. flour
1/4 C. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
oil for frying


Directions:

Slice Okra into 1/2 inch slices. In a mixing bowl combine buttermilk and beaten egg. Throw in sliced okra and let sit in the fridge for 30 minutes before frying. Combine flour, cornmeal and seasonings. Drain the okra mixture and toss in the flour mixture to coat. Drop into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
